Air conditioning and ventilation do different jobs. Most domestic air conditioners do not bring fresh air into the home.
It extracts air from wet rooms (kitchen, bathroom, toilet). Fresh air comes in through vents in the living areas.
It extracts stale air and supplies filtered fresh air. A heat exchanger recovers some of the heat from the extracted air before it is expelled.
The choice depends on the home, the possible duct routes and how it is used. It is made after an assessment.
